Behind the scenes at the de Young | San Francisco, California.
Today was the first time I got to go into the conservation studio; I had no idea what that was. Ha. And then when I found out what it was, I was psyched. In fact, I was amazed. Here’s the story!
This is my coworker and I messing around while I take some test shots. She’s thinking REALLY hard on how we can fix this ancient sculpture. We have no idea, but she looked like she was deep in thought, huh? What a fantastic model!

And then time for some real portraits of an 89-years-old man who does the actual restoration of artworks. He must clean it before handling the most difficult task. Look at her arm …

She was holding this before it fell over … I guess her arm got tired after all those hundreds of years. I would feel so strained! Maybe she needed to drink some milk! Ha. I don’t know how Bob Rosenberg is going to attach this 25lb piece back on, but I’m sure he’ll work his magic.
